Osteoporosis

Overview

Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of bone tissue, leading to increased bone fragility and a higher risk of fractures. Often called the 'silent disease,' osteoporosis typically progresses without symptoms until a fracture occurs — most commonly in the hip, spine, or wrist. Risk factors include aging, menopause, family history, low body weight, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and prolonged use of certain medications such as corticosteroids. Our practice provides comprehensive bone health evaluation, including DEXA bone density scanning referrals, fracture risk assessment, and individualized treatment plans using the latest medications to strengthen bones and reduce fracture risk.
